The Story :

After about 6 months of hard work (plotting, planning etc etc), it was time for “the trip”. We fond of the beach so we decided to head back to good ole Krabi island. It was one of first few adventure outings while we were fit and healthy back in 05!

However, this time we decided not to take ‘scenic route’ which involved a 12 hour train ride, and a further 4 hours by minivan. This time, it was going to be special – ala AirAsia. Thankfully, there were no delays and our hotel pickup was right on time.

How I did the proposal…

We arrived in Amari Vogue about 2:30 pm, after a 40 min drive to Tubkaek Beach.
The place looked amazing, the staff seemed very friendly and warm. Right away we felt at ease and relaxed.

After checking into our room (which looked great, especially after demanding a room situated on a higher floor – so we could see the entire ocean view!), we looked around the resort. The weather was a little hot, but the look of the sandy beach right across the back of the resort made us wish we could run straight into the sea and dive in. Looking further through our resort, we came across the Silvara Spa, that catered to almost every need of our overworked souls.

She decided to try one of the massage packages on the menu. That gave me enough time to do some final planning and sneak up to the front desk. I requested for our room to be decorated for the occasion around 6:30 pm, since it was going to be my last day as a free man, I might as well sleep on a bed of roses :P.

After speaking to the front desk several times to ensure they understood what I wanted, I snuck down to the beach to take in some sun and to relax by the beach.

Soon after, it was time to greet her and I head back to the room to get ready for dinner.
We then headed down towards the Italian restaurant which was located right by the beach front to grab a cocktail and watch the sunset. There we spotted a couple in a kayak out in the open see that were watching the sunset too (darn! I wish I thought of that).

After the cocktail, we headed up to the Lotus Restaurant, which served great Thai dishes. We even had a bottle of white too!

Near the end of dinner, I checked my watch and it showed 9:30 pm (which translated to about 8:30 pm Thailand time). Thought to myself, 2 hours should be more than enough to get the deco done in the room. As we walked out the hotel lift, I noticed that there was an open room door right about where our room was with a bag outside it. A passing thought hit me – maybe they are not done yet? I prayed that wasn’t true but as we approached, my boo boo said out loud “hey someone must be having a honeymoon, they’re doing something to the room”.

I looked up and saw that it was our room number and paniced! I thought ‘ BASTARDS! They’re supposed to be done… CCB! ‘

Hurriedly we walked along pass the room, thinking of some sort of excuse to get my boo boo downstairs again. I looked back and hoped to god that the staff doing up the room had the brains to move quickly and stealthily out the door before she notices. Then my boo boo starts laughing and say… its you! You asked them to do something… how sweet….
I blushed and said yeah

CBB they were supposed to be done! Now my surprise is ruined.

We then proceeded into our room, where my boo boo starts giggling and says its so nice. There were rose petals on our beds along with a small appertizer on the sidetables for each of us. They even filled our tub with water and had rose petals on them.

Feeling disappointed I walked up to bed and jumped on it. It was nice I thought, but my surprise was still ruined.

After about 3 mins of non-stop laughing my boo boo then sleeps next to me on the bed. I was holding the ring under the pillow where she didn’t notice and was contemplating waiting until tomorrow to spring the proposal – maybe do that kayak thing, during sunrise? But I then said, well no point delaying.

Pulled out the ring and asked my boo if she would be willing to marry me…

She laughs……. and said Yes!
